The action is base don the principle of sellective photolysis. El cromophore or
target substance in the hair’s follicle will absorb energy and convert it into
heat inducing the hair’s destruction by the light’s action.
The Intense Pulsed light energy is absorbed mainly by the melanin existing in the
hair. Once the energy is absorbed and converted into heat. The thermal effect will
destroy the follicle, the bulb and the dermal papilla.
The range of wavelengths used for this purpose in Photonius™ is from 590 to 1200
nm. Several filter cut the wavelengths according to the clinical application or
skin phototype.
